SILENT POWER: INTROVERTED PEOPLE
For introverted people, we can say that people who focus on their own thoughts instead of the outside world and therefore find their energy and strength in themselves instead of external sources. Introverts are widely known as shy and asocial, and unfortunately, this is a misconception. So what are introverts?
Carl Gustav Jung and Introversion
Jung, known for his theories of personality in psychology, was the first to define this concept.
Can We Call Introverts Asocial?
This should not be confused with asociality because they enter crowded environments, communicate with people and socialise. Only before this, they need to stay with themselves for a while to gather their energy. They collect the energy that many people collect in events organised after work, school, etc. by being alone without entering that environment.
Introverts Are Not Shy.
In society, this concept is confused with being timid or shy. But introverts are not shy. A shy person can be scared when entering a crowded environment. And he tries to overcome this, he is not happy to be alone, he is bored with this situation. But an introverted person is not afraid of being alone and already prefers it. This is how he is happy and reaches peace.
So, Can They Be Depressed?
Introverts can also be depressed, of course, but we cannot say that they are depressed just because they are an introvert. There is no tangible reason for this.
What Else Can We Say About Introverts?
They don't talk much; they prefer to write more. In fact, their inner world is very rich, but they do not express it outwardly.
They are not unsuccessful people. On the contrary, the fact that they want to stay more with themselves is what reinforces their success.
With their deep thoughts and feelings, they are also more deeply focussed on their spiritual values and beliefs.
Strong Characteristics Of Introverted People
Firstly, we can say that they are observation-analysis orientated. They are very good at introspection. And this is very important in self-knowledge. We can deduce from Jung's saying ‘outward looking dreams, inward looking wakes up.’ the importance of introspection and that introverts are successful in deep issues.
Introverts are very good listeners. This situation enables them to think analytically and we can also say that they are empathetic people.
Creativity, which is one of the biggest benefits of being alone, is also one of their strong features. Their deep thoughts offer them different perspectives. For example; J.K. Rowling, Vicente van Gogh, Ludwig van Beethoven, Soren Kierkegaard are world famous introverts in the field of art.
A strong characteristic of introverts is that they are successful in leadership, which may sound a little wrong, but their deep thoughts, being empathetic and acting more carefully play an important role in the decision-making process, or in a group work, the success rate may increase as introverts include the ideas of other members.
